Laminate Floors

Laminate Floors

Laminate Floors
At Just Remnants we sell only top quality laminates. That is why it’s easy to achieve the look of tile, hardwood or stone at affordable prices and without the maintenance requirements of the natural products.

Construction

Laminates are a manufactured product constructed like the layers of a cake. Almost all laminates are built in four (4) layers:

The Base

The bottom layer of a laminate is hard melamine plastic that lends stability to the planks and helps guard against moisture from the sub-floor.

The Core

The heart of the laminate. The core is typically made of fiberboard of varying qualities. The better the core, the better and higher priced the laminate. This is the layer that carries the tongue and groove or other joining mechanism that connects two adjacent planks of laminate. The method of connecting two adjacent strips is critical if you want a moisture resistant, stable, long lasting, quiet floor.

Decorative Layer

This is a printed, high-resolution photo-reproduction of wood grain, natural stone, ceramic tile or other surface pattern. The layer of a laminate is adhered on top of the core board. The more realistic this layer is, the better the quality of the laminate.

Wear Layer

This is the top layer of a laminate, it is a durable, transparent layer which provides protection, shine and stain resistance.

Buying Tips

When shopping for laminates remember that you get what you pay for. The quality of the 4 distinct layers, the accuracy of the joining system, the strength of the bonding between layers and the chemistry of the resins all work together to insure the long life and good looks of the product.

Your Just Remnants sales associate is the “go-to” source for the truth about laminates.
